Shoppers at Stretford Mall are once again showing their generous side, as the Salford Central Foodbank Easter egg appeal is proving to be as popular as ever at H&T Pawnbrokers.
The collection follows on from the incredible achievement of 2015 when kind-hearted shoppers donated more than 250 chocolate eggs. Last year was the first year that H&T hosted a collection point. It was so successful that the foodbank was able give excess eggs to neighbouring charities due to the sheer volume received. This year has picked straight up from where last year finished, with a remarkable 100 sweet treats having been donated to the collection point and the donation deadline still a few days away.
“Charities like the foodbank play a key role in helping people get back on their feet and getting those that need it through difficult periods. As well as the foodbank providing the essentials we wanted to make sure the kids had something a little special for Easter,” said H&T Store Manager Tony Doyle.
“We were amazed by how popular our collection point was last year so when we were asked if we could have it in the store again we jumped at the chance. This year has proven to be just as popular and we have 100 in the collection box ready to go to those who need them the most. We still have a few days left on the appeal so if anyone wants to donate they still have a few days to do it.“
Gareth Wilkins, Stretford Mall Centre Manager said he was thrilled that H&T were again taking part in the campaign. “I’m really pleased to see that our brilliant shoppers are donating to the collection point. We’re a big community here at Stretford Mall and it’s great that shops like H&T take part in important appeals like this.”
For those wanting to donate Easter treats, the Salford Central Foodbank collection point will be at H&T Pawnbrokers in Stretford Mall until 11 March.
